Amazing Wind and Rain Bridges in China

The Dong ethnic group is a small number of people who do not have a specific habitation area. Its members live in small groups in different parts of China. People of this group are famous for their carpentry skills.

The most fascinating example of their skills can be the bridges, which are called “Wind and Rain Bridges”. They are called so because of their ability to protect people from the weather. Another name for them is “flower bridges”, and it’s because of their exquisite architecture. A Wind and Rain Bridge is usually compound of the bridge itself, a tower and a pavilion, and it’s built entirely out of wood. On the both sides, it has railings and benches for those who want to rest, or simply have walking difficulties. The main feature of these bridges is the fact that there weren’t used any nails in their construction.
